Presentation abstract

The Internet has experienced a great development in China in the past 15 years. As one of the fastest growing country in internet, there are more than 420 million internet users in China now, while each Chinese internet user holds only 0.17 IPv4 address in average. Address shortage has become an obstacle to internet development in China.

As an absolute solution of address shortage, IPv6 is highly valued in China. In this presentation, the situation of IPv6 deployment in China will be introduced, including the technical standard status, equipment development, network construction and the application applied.


Zhu Gang received his master and doctoral degree from the Department of Electronic Engineering, Tsinghua University, and holds a postdoctoral position in CATR. His research interests include next generation Internet architecture, routing scalability, IP Qos, IPv6 technology, and research about policy making of telecommunication development.
